Description

Books sorted into 28 categories, from paperbacks to Arts and Science and Engineering to Fiction to Travel, available from the first day of the sale to the last. Monday is Half-Price Day and Tuesday is Bag Day - a bag of books for $5.00 - Customers are encouraged to bring recyclable plastic bags.

About 4,000 boxes of books priced to sell are ready for move-in. Doors open daily at 9:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.

A Special Collectors Room features books of particular value priced over $20 each. A price list of these books, published before 1950 and priced at about one-third of dealer's price, is available on the AAUW State College Branch web site at www. AAUW State College.org. There will be no presale of these books. All will be available from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until they are sold or until the end of Half-Price Day, whichever comes first. The Special Collectors Room will be closed on Bag Day.

The Collectors Table on the floor of the Ag Arena will also offer books published before 1950 for extremely reasonable prices. If you are a collector, be sure to check this table for hidden treasures that we may have missed.

This year marks the 49th annual sale organized and financed by the State College Branch of the American Association of University Women, an organization dedicated to promoting equity and education to women and girls. The proceeds benefit scholarship funds and educational projects in Centre County and at the national level.

The Book Sale is a tremendous community effort. The AAUW State College Branch has partnered with the Penn State Chapter of the FFA for the past two years to work throughout the year to collect, cull, sort and price the books. In addition to members and other community volunteers, students from the Delta Program of the State College Area School District and from Penn State’s Navy ROTC program lend their muscle on move-in night. The Book Sale is also a tremendous recycling effort. Books not salable are recycled, saving space in our landfills,

Membership in AAUW is open to all who hold an associate degree or beyond from an accredited post-secondary school.
