North Dakota Book Stores
Many North Dakota Friends of the
Library and Non Profits choose to run bookstores and ongoing book
sales. Both of these approaches for selling books allow library
supporters the option to buy used books any time of the year,
instead of a couple days a calendar year.
ND Ongoing book sales are sales that
usually are put on during library hours. Ongoing sales usually have
a set store like location in a library. They tend to be smaller,
since they never accumulate as many books. Most ongoing used
booksales have less than one thousand items.
ND used bookstores are like ongoing
sales in that they happen to be scaled-down and have dedicated
store like locations within libraries. The big difference between a
book store and an ongoing used book sale is the amount of books,
CD's, and DVD's available for sale. Libraries that have many books
to continuously have for sale are large enough to have a room
dedicated to the sales of these items. Used bookstores are staffed
by Friends of the Library (FOL) members.
