  • What are Friends Night and Preview Sales?

These are special nights that usually require a membership or a fee to attend. In a non “picked over” sale, this is usually the day with the most fresh inventory, which draws quite a crowd. They are usually shortened hours and tend to be very crowded.

  • What are some rules I can see at a sale?

    • Electronic devices are not allowed.
    • Limited number of books to be purchases on the first night.
    • No “hoarding”, a practice where buyers hoard many books in a location to go through them later.
    • No strollers allowed.

  • What are “picked over sales”?

    These are sales where:

    • The Organization removes some books from the sale to be listed online.
    • Limited number of books to be purchases on the first night.
    • The Organization has a “deal” with a book seller, which allows him or her to go through the sale prior to the first night of the public sale.
    • The Organization allows volunteers to go through the sale prior to the first public night.
